A bit about me, my approach & therapy...
My name is Leon White. I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor & Psychotherapist and a registered member with the BACP. I'm also a committee member of the BACPs Public Protection Committee, supporting the BACP with its work to protect the public from harm.
I have 15+ years in a variety of roles, working in the voluntary sector, supporting the work of local authorities & social care, nhs & mental health teams, supporting a variety of people to make changes in their lives.
As a therapist, I take a client-centered approach to working with others. That means I work collaboratively with you to create a supportive & non-judgmental space to explore your thoughts and feelings. I believe that everyone has the capacity for growth & healing & I'm dedicated to walking alongside you on your journey toward this.
Working integratively, I combine a variety of evidence-based therapies; including mindfulness & cognitive behaviour therapies (CBT), psychodynamic & existential therapies to find the right fit for you.
I have a particular focus in working with underserved communities (such as BIPOC/BAME, LGBTQIA, or those disabled by society) in a cross-cultural & culturally competent manner; your experiences are unique & they matter.
About therapy
It can feel like a big and intimidating step, reaching out for therapy for the first time. So let me tell you a bit about what you can expect.

Once you've reached out we'll arrange some time for an initial consultation. In that initial meeting, we'll start by discussing what you're finding difficult and how that affects you and the people around you. I'll talk to you a bit about therapy and how it might be able to help you.
You might have a clear idea about the concerns you're bringing, but you might just have a sense that something's wrong - I'm here for both and we can work through them together.

We can talk a bit more about the type of therapy that might be a good fit for you and for the difficulties you're experiencing and make a plan for working together; including how long we'll work together.

Sessions are normally charged at £60 per session, but this is on a sliding scale snd I offer a number of low-cost options for those who might need it.
